In this blog I want to share information related to Asthadasa Shakthi Peethams.Out of 18 Shakthi Peethams , In AndhraPradesh we have 4 Shakthi Peethams.
Locations of 4 Shakthi Peethas in Andhra Pradesh:
1.Bhramaramba Devi Temple (Srisailam) Kurnool District ,Andhra pradesh.
2.Jogulamba Devi Temple (Alampur ) MahaboobNagar District,Andhra pradesh.
3.Manikyamba Devi Temple (Draksharamam) East Godavari,Andhra pradesh.
4.Puruhutika Devi Temple (Pithapuram) East Godavari,Andhra pradesh.
Today I want to share my everlasting happy momonets at Alampuram Jogulamba Temple.

Alampur is located at a distance of 200 km from Hyderabad.Alampur is located in Mahabubnagar District and is near to Kurnool District.
Jogulamba (also called as Yogulamba / Yogamba) is one of the eighteen Shakti peethas. Oordhva danta pankti (Upper jaw with tooth) of devi fell here. She is the Shakti of Bala brahmeswara swamy.
On September 15 2012, we planned to visit the Alampuram Shakthi Peetham. At the age of 25 we four dont have knowledge regarding what is Shakthi Peethas and where they located. I strongly believe that if something is belongs to us we can get it by anyway.Like same we are blessed with Jogulamba Devi to visit such a beautiful place.
We started our journey on 15'th Sep around 11.00 AM from Kukatplly hyderabad -- hiteccity --Shamshabad ring road-- Kurnool route...Alampuram is on the way to Hyderabad Kurnool route. We took left at Welcome (Aarch) board to Alampuram.It is 15 km distance from main road and road condition was good but need to drive slow because one(only) way route.We are insrtucted by AP Tourism banners.
Our actual plan was to visit Srisilam Temple.When we enter the village we thaught that we are at Jogulamba Temple but we visited the Sangameswara Temple.This temple is constructed with sand rock and with amazing sculpture an Architectue. Temple is having around 10 acres land.
Below is Lord Sangameswara Temple.
Jogulamba temple is located in the South-East corner of the village beside Tungabhadra river.Old temple of Jogulamba was destroyed by Bahamani sultans in the 14th century. The idols of Jogulamba and her two shaktis Chandi, Mundi were protected from them and placed in Bala brahmeswara swamy temple untill 2005. Now, a new temple was constructed in the same place and the godess was shifted in to it. New temple of Jogulamba is very much beautiful to see with a nice granite flooring. It is surrounded by a water pool. Villagers of Alampur tell an interesting reason for it: "Jogulamba is an Ugra rupa (highly energetic and hard to worship) and this water pool makes the atmosphere cool so that we can easily worship her".

Idol of Jogulamba is typical. She is in sitting position. She has huge amount of hair with lizard, scorpion, owl and a human scull in it. Idols of Saptamatrikas, Vighneswara and Veenapani veerabhadra are also present in the temple. Original Chandi Mundi idols were left in Bala brahmeswara swamy temple and new idols are made and placed in Jogulamba temple.
Here Tungabadra river flows in a direction of North (UttaraPravahini) due to this there is less radiation effect in this water exactly same as in Kaasi Varanasi, that is why this temple as also reffered as Dakshina Kaasi.
According to village people and sources these all 9 temples were under water during the time of Kurnool floods.Tungabadra river is so pure and beautiful.
Navabramha Temples:
Alampur Navabrahma Temples[3][4] are located at Alampur in Andhra Pradesh. There are a total of nine temples in Alampur. All of them are dedicated to Shiva. These temples date back to the 7th century A.D and were built by the Badami Chalukyas rulers who were great patrons of art and architecture. Even after a time span of several hundred years, these grand temples still stand firm reflecting the rich architectural heritage of the country.
The temples are emblematic of the Northern and Western Indian styles of architecture. They do not reflect the Dravidian style of architecture as is generally common with the temples in this region. The brilliance of the artists who carved the sculptures of these temples is indeed commendable.
The Navabrahma temples are present on the left bank of the Tungabhadra river, enclosed in a courtyard.
Taraka Brahma:
At Taraka Brahma temple, the 6th-7th century CE inscriptions present here.
Swarga Brahma:
Swarga Brahma temple [5] was built during 681-696 AD by Lokaditya Ela Arasa in honour of the queen of Vinayaditya, it is mentioned in an inscription found above the Dwarapalaka image. It is the finest example of Badami Chalukya Architecture and sculpture. This temple is the most elaborately ornamented temple. Temple with an imposing tower (Rekhanagara vimana) is the finest compared to other temples at Alampur.
Padma Brahma:
Padma Brahma temple having polished stone sculpture of Shivalinga
Bala Brahma:
AS per the inscriptions, Bala Brahma temple dates back to 702 CE. It is the main shrine of worship, Shivaratri is celebrated.
Vishwa Brahma:
Vishwa Brahma temple having sculptural scenes from the epics. It is one of the most artistic temple.
See the Nava Bramha Temples:
There is one archaeological museum and there we can find world famous sculptures like Nagabandham, Parvathi sametha nandhi vahanam, Nataraja sculpture, Granite made Dvaram(during those days we dont have granite Polish machines these sculpture answer how rich Indian Sculptures).Here I like a Stupam where a Lion is sculptured in a small hole.

We entered a temple there we got so many answers to what is Indian Sculpture and how rich indian's were.But that temple is one of 9 Bramha Temples(The Bala Bhramma temple is the principal shrine of worship).We asked temple staff where is Jogulamba temple they instructed us the right way.

There are other temples like Suryanarayana temple dating back to 9th century. And Narasimha temple with inscriptions belongs to Sri Krishna Devaraya (Vijayanagar Empire). You are sure to be impressed by the Suryanarayana and the Narasimha temples that are also found in the same complex. The exquisite sculptures in the temple are very admirable.

Above is a Lord Surya Deva Sculpture, got first prize when conducted a competetion International wide. If you observe closely we came to know that olden days people fallow today beauty tips like Eye brows and wearning gold ornaments in those days means Indians are rich in Beauty Tips.
The above sculpture called NagaBandham got 2nd prize in worldwide contest.

In Alampur all Temples constructed like Konark Surya Deva Temple.According to sources and history these temples were constructed earlier to konark temple and those sculptures from Andhra Pradesh went to konark and construct taht temple.All temples are constucted using sand stone.
Facilities: There are cottages available from AP Tourism Haritha Hotels and some private tiffin centres.
Tranport: Alampuram is well connected by roads. 25 km from Kurnool and 200 km from Hyderabad.
Nearest railway station Kurnool.
Speciality: Purohits in both Sangameswara and Jogulamba temples are having great patience and very expressive and they took initiative and tell each and every thing related to Sthala Puranam and surround places.
Note: This is my humble request to today young generation to know such a great places and be proud of our ancestors.People who want to visit this place, is best to go weekends and two days are not sufficient to see all places there
